Content is the new release from Texas-based Rad Wolf, a musical adventure that can be called a one-man-band if you really feel the need to put a label on something like this. With a small mountain of instruments, field recordings, knick knacks discovered at the bottom of dollar bins, and cat sounds, Jacob Shelton, the man behind the music, has created an album that evokes Belong, Greg Davis and tumbling alone through a quilted multiverse. Maintaining his usual spontaneous come fortuitous mentality, Jacob recorded the album at home over the course of a month when he was particularly in his own head and trying to find a way out. The sounds of guitar, drums, synth, meows, bells and a patchwork of others pop in, fade, bleep and deteriorate, declaring itself a genre all its own. Part ambient, part lo fi electronica and part sound design, Content was written as inspired by long walks through unlit empty neighborhoods, the speculative implications of modal realism, and RPGs... and it most certainly sounds like it.
